The Future of DJing

A few years ago a new type of product hit the scene and has truly revolutionized how a DJ works. This was Serato's Scratch Live. While not the first digital dj product, this is simply the best.

Serato's Scratch Live is a hardware device that plugs into your computer and then your turntable (it also works with CD players). You put a special digitally encoded record on the turntable and Scratch Live will map an mp3 from your laptop onto the record. This means that you can use your turntable to play whatever music is on your computer! You can fully manipulate it like you would a record - scratching it, backspinning it, jumping to different parts of the song by moving the needle - everything!

Other then cutting out the need to lug around boxes of heavy vinyl or CD books, Serato's Scratch Live gives DJs the ability to play their own mixes. You can use available software to remix a track and then you could play it that same night. The possibilities are truly endless.
